Director of the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPG PAS) in Poznan announces open competition for research position

Project: Long non-coding RNAs as multifaceted players regulating phytohormones crosstalk and stress signaling pathways in barley”, NCN, OPUS28 No. 2024/55/B/NZ9/00579

Required Qualifications

  1. PhD in bioinformatics, plant biotechnology, molecular biology, or a related field.
  2. Publications in a field related to the topic.
  3. Good organizational skills and experience working in a team.
  4. Excellent communication skills in English.
  5. Expertise in the application of statistical methods for anaysis of experimental data and experience in high-throughput data processing generated by NGS sequencing, HPLC/MS techniques, as well as digital phenotyping systems.
  6. Competence in computational and bioinformatics tools such as R, Python, transcriptome and genome analysis tools, computations in Linux environment, HPC, TopHat, Bowtie, DESeq2, enrichment analysis tools, Genevestigator, psRNATarget, OmicsBox, etc.; experience in utilizing public databases for omics study (e.g., EnsemblPlants, NCBI, GrainGenes, KEGG, miRbase, Plant Reactome).

Main Responsibilities

  1. Conducting statistical analyses.
  2. Performing bioinformatics computations and in silico identification of transcripts.
  3. Processing multiomics data and integrating results from all work packages (WPs) within the project.
  4. Constructing regulatory networks.
  5. Assisting in data management.
  6. Preparing scientific manuscripts.

Selection Process

Criteria for evaluating candidates to be hired as postdoctoral fellows:

  1. Match of the candidate's experience and skills with the proposed area of study
  2. Creativity as measured by:
    1. Quality and number of publications in which the candidate is first author or corresponding author, number of citations of the candidate's work (Web of Science Core Collection) and Hirsch Index;
    2. Number of patents/patent applications and/or implementations (if applicable);
    3. Quality and number of research projects and development work led (if applicable).
  3. Mobility in their scientific career, including completed scientific internships, change of scientific profile, internships and work in industry.
